Hello there,
We are really in the swing of things now. The air is crisp! Pumpkin spice is back on the menu. Have you tried laying on a blanket and reading in the park? This is the best time of the year. I went to Muji and bought new pens and notebooks for myself. Highly recommend a little trip to buy stationery and good pens. There is no simpler joy.
See you next week!
The Greek Freak is back! Jumping straight off the success of Poor Things (great film, btw), Yorgos Lanthimos’ next film is a triptych. People have talked a lot about Emma Stone in this film, but it’s really Jesse Plemons who kills it. He’s the main feature in the first two stories and truly is doing some of his best work. Get ready for a really weird series of stories.
The Factory by Hiroko Oyamada
What a wonderfully weird little novel! The Factory is told through three different employees who work at the titular factory. What do they do? They don’t even know. Time feels slippery as these employees live and work at the compound and begin to lose touch with reality.
The Crane Husband by Kelly Barnhill
Who doesn’t like a modern take on a classic story? This novella takes the original story and inverts it, changing the crane wife into a sinister crane that takes over a family farm. Nothing better than a quick but engrossing read.
These last two seasons of Selling Sunset have been so good. It’s the perfect show to have on in the background. Every season has more expensive houses! And, if you can believe it, they are even uglier! And the drama! It’s juicy! Come for the ugly houses, stay to see what wild outfits the women wear!
